Awards
We have been honored to receive numerous awards over the years. Below is a brief overview of the most significant distinctions – without claiming to be exhaustive:
Serious Games Award 2009

Our PC title “Frag doch mal … die Maus!” received the Serious Games Award 2009 in the “Educational Game” category. The award was presented during the Serious Games Conference in Hanover; Tobias Müller accepted the prize at the NORD/LB Forum from Lower Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Dr. Philipp Rösler (later Federal Minister of Economics and Vice Chancellor). The jury particularly praised the well-conceived game design, the intuitive controls via the innovative Fun-4-4 Controller, and the high-quality multimedia presentation.
“Frag doch mal … die Maus!” is an interactive dice-based quiz game for children aged six and up, as well as for families. Adjustable difficulty levels, flexible game duration, and customizable gameplay ensure balanced chances for players of all ages while encouraging teamwork and communication within the family. The Serious Games Award 2009 marked the fifth major distinction since the title’s release, once again underscoring its quality and relevance.
Deutscher Entwicklerpreis 2008

Our title “Frag doch mal… die Maus!” was honored as “Best German Children’s Game” at the 2008 German Developer Award ceremony, held at the Lichtburg cinema in Essen. In a highly competitive field — including established brands such as “Playmobil Pirates” and “Felix” — our adaptation of the well-known WDR license secured first place.
For our three-person team, this recognition meant far more than a single award. Following the 2006 German Developer Award for “Urmel – The Party Game”, it reaffirmed our long-term commitment to creating high-quality children’s and family games with a clear creative vision and strong educational values. Being selected by a distinguished expert jury and the German Developer Award Academy was a powerful endorsement — and a significant milestone in the development of Outline Development.
Giga Maus 2008

In 2008, we were honored with the GIGA-Maus Award in recognition of the outstanding quality of our title in the field of children’s and family software. The jury particularly commended the age-appropriate design, intuitive usability, and the successful combination of entertainment and meaningful educational value.
For many years, the GIGA-Maus has served as a trusted guide in the field of digital learning and entertainment products for children. Receiving this distinction was therefore a valuable affirmation of our commitment to developing interactive content with care, responsibility, and a high standard of creative excellence.
German Developer Award 2006

“Urmel – The Party Game” was also honored at the German Developer Award 2006. The jury particularly recognized its accessible multiplayer concept, the faithful and charming adaptation of the well-known characters, and the successful blend of humor and interactive gameplay.
The game was based on the animated feature film “Urmel aus dem Eis.” For the adaptation, we reviewed and processed thousands of images from the movie to authentically recreate its visual world within the game. For the voice of Urmel, we were able to engage Dominic Redl, the well-known German voice actor of Nemo in Finding Nemo.
“Urmel – The Party Game” was also our first project to feature the self-developed Fun-4-4 Controller. As a result, it was released in an unusually large retail box — a deliberate statement in favor of a physically present, shared gaming experience.
The award confirmed our ambition to transform established intellectual properties into distinctive, high-quality interactive experiences — both technically and creatively.
German Developer Award 2004
With “Ogallala”, we achieved 2nd place in the “Casual Games” category at the German Developer Award 2004 — an honor we had not expected. In fact, we did not attend the ceremony; the award was presented to us in absentia.
Our digital adaptation of the classic stood out for what was, at the time, an unusually extensive feature set: a comprehensive story mode with additional DLC content, online multiplayer functionality, and a local network mode. This combination of a traditional game concept and modern technical implementation ultimately made the difference.
The recognition marked an important early milestone for us. It demonstrated that we not only adapt proven concepts with care, but also meaningfully expand and enhance them — guided by a clear commitment to quality and technical depth.
